Crafting an instrument from wood is one of the most rewarding journeys a woodworker will undergo. Completing a musical instrument creates a unique relationship between two artists, the craftsman, and the musician. The wood instruments must be more than aesthetic because quality also depends on how it feels in the hands of the player and, ultimately, how it sounds in the ears of their audience. Over time the carefully shaped wood forgets that it is just wood. The sounding vibrations that pass through its fibers continue to form the voice of the instrument over time, and a finely crafted instrument will bring that voice to future generations. With each instrument I make, that is my goal.
